Children from disadvantaged backgrounds in India fail to achieve even the basic foundation literacy and numeracy. This is caused by various issues including lack of appropriate curriculum and classroom materials especially for multigrade learning, limited training and classroom support for teachers to deliver content, and ineffective governance mechanisms. Madhi aims to drive improved foundational learning outcomes for children through large scale interventions in curriculum reform, capacity building of teachers and administrators and setting up robust governance systems that leverage data and technology to make evidence-based decision making an institutional habit among education departments
