Bridging gaps and Reimagining

Education with EdTech

Our Approach

Our work in EdTech focuses on leveraging technology to improve student learning both at home and in school. Our work is built on four pillars:

icon

Supporting the creation and adoption of high quality, contextual learning solutions for low income communities

icon

Gathering and generating evidence on the role of technology in education

icon

Supporting governments in adopting effective and relevant software solutions

icon

Creating public goods to support the EdTech ecosystem

All three of these apps are Personalized Adaptive Learning (PAL) solutions – software solutions that tailor teaching instructions to the exact learning levels of each child

Generating Evidence on EdTech in India

At Home

ConveGenius

ConveGenius has been running an internal evaluation via difference-in-difference methods, with support from CSF, to understand the differential impact of WhatsApp-based remediation packages on student learning outcomes. The study is being conducted with close to 1000 students across Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand

Chimple

We are supporting Chimple, a game-based math and language app with the evaluation of its teacher-directed at-home learning model

Home and Blended Learning

We believe the future of learning is blended and are working to create meaningful evidence to seamlessly extend learning from home to school, and empower students to problem-solve independently

Rocket Learning

A Randomized Control Trial is being conducted by J-PAL, led by Prof. Karthik Muralidharan (University of California, San Diego) and Prof. Abhijeet Singh (Stockholm School of Economics), under the RISE program, to study the impact of Rocket Learning on student learning outcomes and on parent behavior change

District Virtual Education Program

We collaborated with CHiPs and Educational Initiatives for a program to improve learning levels of students in Chattisgarh’s Rajnandgaon, Dantewada and Bastar districts. As a part of this, personalized adaptive learning (PAL) solutions were used to identify and remediate student learning gaps at an individual level in government schools.

Digital Classrooms

Despite being among the most widespread Edtech interventions in government schools in India, evidence around Digital Classrooms (DCR) or SmartClass remains limited. CSF is planning to undertake action research to generate evidence that will help governments make more informed decisions around DCR, and are currently working on the research design
