Arpandeep Singh: A Father’s Pride, A Teacher’s Dedication
Nov 11, 2025
Arpandeep Singh, 9 years old, studies in Grade 4 at the Government Elementary School, Rattouke, where he has been enrolled since the beginning of his schooling. His father, Balwinder Singh, a retired school lecturer, credits the school and its teachers for his son’s remarkable progress, despite a hearing impairment that also affects his speech

“I have seen a clear difference in how children learn here. My son can now recognise numbers, solve basic sums and understand mathematical concepts that I did not expect him to grasp so quickly,” says Balwinder Singh with visible pride.
For him, the school is not just an institution but a vibrant, nurturing space where every child is given a chance to grow. In school, no child can be considered weak. The teachers make sure every student participates, whether it is kho-kho, bhangra, or classroom learning. The environment feels like a small university, full of energy and opportunities.

Renu Singla
He particularly appreciates Renu Singla, Arpan’s Mathematics teacher, for her commitment and compassion.
“Renu ma’am does not know sign language, but she still manages to communicate beautifully with my son using gestures and expressions. Arpan understands her through lip-reading. Many times, I cannot make out what my son is saying, but ma’am understands him instantly,” Balwinder shares warmly.
Balwinder Singh admits that he cannot give much time to his son’s studies at home, but Renu ma’am’s constant efforts bridge that gap. His teacher gives him individual attention and always shares updates about his progress whenever I visit the school. Once, she even sent currency notes home so that we could practice the concept of money together. That small yet thoughtful gesture made a big difference in Arpan’s learning.
