Kamlin Sahu: Nurturing Young Minds with Love and Learning
Nov 19, 2025
Kamlin Sahu, a passionate educator with 16 years of experience, teaches Grade 1 at Siminai Government Primary School in Dhenkanal, Odisha. Her warmth and connection with children define her teaching philosophy.

Over the years, Kamlin has evolved from traditional teaching methods to adopting the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) approach, which involves creating a child-centred, activity-based learning environment where students actively participate in their learning journey. Kamlin believes this shift has brought learning alive for her students.
“The older teaching methods were more teacher-oriented, but the new FLN methods are student-oriented and kids enjoy the process through teaching-learning materials (TLMs)”, she explains. With a focus on activity-based learning and the use of TLMs, Kamlin ensures that every child participates and learns with curiosity.
Beyond her classroom, Kamlin actively engages in Monthly Cluster Meetings (MCM), where she collaborates with teachers and Cluster Resource Centre Coordinators (CRCCs). These sessions help her refine her teaching strategies and gain practical insights into using TLM across subjects. The collaborative nature of these meetings has become a vital space for her to learn from peers and stay updated on effective FLN practices, enriching her approach with new ideas and tools.
Through her dedication and love for teaching, Kamlin Sahu continues to shape confident, joyful learners, proving that compassion and innovation together can create lasting change in the classroom. By nurturing her students with care and providing them with creative learning opportunities through FLN, Kamlin is ensuring they build a strong foundation for future learning, fostering a generation of curious, empowered learners ready to embrace the challenges ahead.
